FLUORIDE DATE LECTURE #37 - DR. PAUL CONNETT'S NOVEMBER 2010 TEXAS VISIT: AUSTIN & SAN ANTONIO EVENTS
Good afternoon, Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and councilmembers. As the time draws nearer to the Austin visit of Professor Paul Connett, director of the Fluoride Action Network, I want to summarize once more his five main scheduled events – all free and open to the public. On Thursday, November 4, he’ll speak at the Thompson Conference Center on the UT campus at 7 p.m. He’ll be supported by a dentist, a PhD environmentalist and a registered pharmacist—all local, all dedicated to seeing an end to fluoridation in their city. Our invitation to participate to several higly-placed fluoridation proponents in Texas has so far met with no takers.
That happens to be the evening of a City Council meeting, so we won’t expect to see any of you there, but we do recommend the last stop on his tour. Bracketing his trip—on Tuesday, November 9, also at 7 p.m.—he will speak at the King Seabrook Chapel on the campus of Huston Tillotson University. This will be a great educational opportunity, in particular for the eastside community and we urge everyone to show up.
Between these two major events are sandwiched several smaller ones. On Friday afternoon, Nov. 5th, 4 to 7 p.m., he’ll sign his just-published book The Case Against Fluoride: How Hazardous Waste Ended Up in Our Drinking Water and the Bad Science and Powerful Politics That Keep It There at Borders Books—Domain location. On Saturday the 6th, 2:00 p.m., he’ll hold a dual talk/book signing in the auditorium of Casa de Luz. Casa de Luz is a peaceful, green urban oasis located at 1701 Toomey Road. Its grounds harbor both a Montessori school and a fine vegan restaurant, and we hope the environmentally-aware and the health food conscious, amont others, will join us in this lovely setting. Later the same evening, at 7 p.m., he’ll give another talk/signing at Brave New Books, 1904 Guadalupe, near the UT campus.
Dr. Connett’s schedule, along with directions to the several venues, is posted at www.caseagainstfluoridebook.com Watch for our ads in the Austin Chronicle and NOKOA--The Observer, coming soon. Thank you.
