FLUORIDE DATE LECTURE #43 - TRY A LITTLE RESEARCH
Large Decommissioned MOSAIC Fertilizer Plant in Bartow, Florida
Fuorosilicic Acid is Produced in the Scrubbing Towers (still visible)
Most of us have trouble believing that a few highly placed, corporate backed, political “experts” could have an unstated agenda when they characterize diluting an inconvenient toxic industrial byproduct in our water supply as a universal dental benefit to the American public. I know I do. What do we really know about this program? We know the CDC says it is safe to drink at specified levels. We know that the ADA says it is effective based on their own limited studies conducted a long time ago in two city-pairs in Michigan and New York. Those studies were conducted using sodium fluoride.
Do we know it is safe and effective here? We are using hydro-fluoro-silicic acid in our water. No human research on hydro-fluoro-silicic acid acid has ever been published anywhere. We have a different climate, different population, different culture. We’re Texans!
It’s true parts of western Texas are over-fluoridated with naturally-occurring calcium fluoride, in which the calcium ion tends to mitigate the toxicity of the fluoride ion. We have a little bit of natural calcium fluoride in our water—which the city supplements with the unnatural hydro-fluoro-silicic acid.
We have been fluoridating in Austin for approximately 40 years now. We have one of the biggest research universities in the country right here. Yet in 40 years, not a single local human study has been conducted. Not one! What do WE know about fluoridation in our community? Absolutely nothing! As a Texan, I don’t like being told what’s good for me by Washington D.C. bureaucrats. Do you?
Numerous communities in Texas have never fluoridated, and several of those that once did have recently stopped. I suggest an immediate moratorium on fluoridating Austin’s water! I suggest we use the fluoride budget to fund our own research so we'd know something. Almost two years ago, our own Environmental Board suggested an independent study. I stand with our local Environmental Board! Is there any one of you who disagree with me? Nobody? Well then, I charge you to stop fluoridating - NOW.

I agree and I just sent this letter to Austin City Council:
The first time I spoke to Mayor Wynn in Feb 2009, I mis-spoke and said Austin's Fluoride comes from the petro-chemical industry, when IN FACT I KNEW AND MEANT TO SAY AUSTIN'S FLUORIDE COMES FROM THE PHOSPHATE FERTILIZER INDUSTRY IN FLORIDA (MOSAIC); A SIMILAR MISPEAK OCCURRED THIS PAST THUR, APRIL 28 WHEN MY SON PHILIP GREENE SPOKE TO MAYOR LEFFINGWELL AND CITY COUNCIL, STATING THAT SODIUM FLUORIDE OCCURS NATURALLY IN OUT WATER WHEN HE MEANT TO SAY "CALCIUM FLUORIDE." SODIUM FLUORIDE IS A BI-PRODUCT OF THE ALUMINIUM INDRUSTRY... REGARDLESS OF WHICH KIND OF FLUORIDE...TEXANS DON'T NEED THE CAUSTIC HYDROFLUOROCILICIC ACID (AS DEFINED IN IATA, THE INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION'S LIST OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS). WHEN IN FLORIDA THE EPA MANDATES THAT IT BE TREATED AS A HAZARDOUS WASTE PRODUCT... BUT WITH THE HELP OF LOBBYISTS AND POLITICIANS IT BECOMES AN INNOCUOUS "ADDITIVE" BY THE TIME IT GETS TO TEXAS! GIVE ME A BREAK...TEXANS DON'T NEED IT IN OUR WATER SUPPLIES, NOR ADDED TO OUR RIVERS, LAKES, OR OCEANS! IT MAY BE A DROP IN THE BUCKET WHEN IT COMES TO THE DOLLARS SPENT BY TEXAS BUT THE TRUE COST TO HUMANS,PETS. WILDLIFE AND PLANT LIFE IS AN UNKNOWN HUGE AMOUNT! DO US A FAVOR AND TURN OFF THE MACHINES.....
